Job Summary

CDM Smith is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Computational Designer to join our team. This role will focus on leveraging design automation and computational design techniques to improve our AEC solutions and drive success for our business lines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement design automation and computational design solutions for AEC projects.
• Utilize visual scripting tools such as Dynamo, Grasshopper, and Generative Components.
• Apply expert knowledge and proven ability in the area of AEC design automation/computational design.
• Collaborate with business units to identify opportunities for design technology and design automation implementation.
• Develop custom tools using Python and C# for integrating with Autodesk Platform Services (APS) and other APIs.
• Possess an inquisitive mindset, demonstrating a desire to ask questions to gain a deeper understanding of business issues.
• Communicate effectively, both written and orally, with individuals from both technical and non-technical backgrounds.
• Build rapport and establish credibility as a strategic and diplomatic partner with business units.
• Apply innovative and critical thinking skills to generate new solutions/ideas that create value and improve processes.
• Manage and execute complex or specialized projects with a detail-oriented approach.
• Maintain proficiency in DevOps practices, GitHub, Azure, and/or other development infrastructure.
• Understand and apply knowledge of project management and agile development processes.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge and proven ability in the area of AEC design automation/computational design.
• Extensive experience with visual scripting tools like Dynamo, Grasshopper, and Generative Components.
• Proficient in Python and C#, with experience using these languages to create custom tools and integrate with Autodesk Platform Services (APS) and other APIs.
• Proficiency in DevOps practices, GitHub, Azure, and/or other development infrastructure.
• Knowledge of project management and agile development processes.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage complex projects.

Compensation

• Pay Range Minimum: $89,336
• Pay Range Maximum: $147,389

• All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
• Fully Remote or Hybrid Work Options may be considered for successful candidate.
• The pay range for this position is listed above. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for this position based on the geographic location assigned to the position. Please note that pay ranges vary based on geographic location. In addition to geographic location, the company considers several other factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role, function and associated responsibilities, the candidate’s work experience, education/training and key skills.
