Individual and Family Plans (IFP) is a rapidly expanding division within UnitedHealthcare. We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team. This position will report to the Associate Director of Product Operations. The Product Manager within the IFP Product Operations team will be responsible for managing key deliverables, including ensuring benefit configuration requirements are clear, accurate, consistent, and delivered promptly to internal partners. This role will serve as a subject matter expert on IFP benefits for their respective markets, translating IFP plan designs and policies (e.g., Certificates of Coverage) into detailed business requirements. Responsibilities also include ensuring benefits and limits are implemented accurately and timely, investigating and responding to internal benefit inquiries promptly, and supporting claims testing activities. Ideal candidates should be interested in contributing to a developing team, capable of cross-functional collaboration, and adept at deriving structure and clarity from ambiguous and complex inputs.

This position is not focused on managing software products. The term “product” in this context refers to health insurance plans and products, specifically individual and family plan products.

Primary Responsibilities

Translate plan design strategy and policies (i.e., Certificates of Coverage) into detailed business requirements Communicate business requirements to configuration and operational partners, ensuring information is organized, clarify complex details and information, and support effective decision-making Use structured communication and documentation techniques and follow department standards to organize information, identify and clarify complex details and document key business decisions to support prioritization of work and effective decision-making Perform annual filing reviews, including collaborating with key business partners, taking lead on, and responding to regulatory objections, performing quality analysis, etc. Collaborate with IFP Product team members to ensure accurate, clear, and consistent benefit interpretation and requirements across regions Partner with product, specialty benefits, operational, clinical, claims and configuration teams to achieve benefit design solutions that align with plan design strategy and comply with statutory/regulatory requirements Serve as the IFP Product lead on claims testing and quality assurance activities for assigned markets, informing test plans, and assisting in defect resolution Provide subject matter expertise to investigate and resolve escalated benefit inquiries and complex benefit-related issues Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement.
